Dan Christian’s heroics with the bat handed Nottinghamshire their first NatWest T20 Blast title. The big Aussie played a trailblazing knock of 24 runs from just 8 balls to script an emphatic victory for his side. After settling business in England, Christian flew to the West Indies to participate in the Carribean Premier League. It did not take time for Christian to grab the limelight in the Carribean as he took an outstanding catch for his team Trinbago Knight Riders which brought the roof down.
The Dwayne Bravo led Trinbago Knight Riders took on Chris Gayle’s St Kitts and Nevis Patriots when Christian got a chance to showcase his fielding abilities. Opening and dangerous batsman Evin Lewis swung his bat to the full to send a ball high up in the air. The ball which went way past Christian’s head was expected to land safe but Christian did not give up so easily. Instead, the all-rounder ran a significant distance to pull off a magnificent diving catch.
However Christian could not take his team over the ropes with his bat as he fell victim to Mohammad Hafeez on a score of 4. the Trinabgo Knight Riders got bundled out for a score of 11 handing the Patriots a 38 runs victory.
The Trinbago Knight Riders were hit with a huge blow when star batsman Brendon McCullum was forced to the sidelines due to an elbow injury. Christian got a last minute call for the CPL and made his mark immediately. TKR will now meet the winner of Thursday’s eliminator clash between Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors.
After the Carribean Premier League, Christian has some national duty coming towards him. The Aussie will feature in the country’s T20 squad that will take India in a 3 match T20 series scheduled to start on 7th October. the last T20 game will be played on October 13.
