They say you should take opportunities as and when it comes. Rather than waiting for chances, create one by consistently performing well in domestic competitions and various leagues. Dan Christian did just that and is now part of Australia’s limited-overs tour to the West Indies. The top seven players from the team are not part of the squad due to various personal reasons.

Players such as Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, and Kane Richardson won’t travel to the Caribbean. The players’ absence, has now given chances to other fringe players in Australia to showcase their mettle and one of them is Christian. The all-rounder got this pleasant news when he was playing the T20 Blast with Nottinghamshire.

While some of them might have skipped the tour due to hard quarantine norms and bio-bubble restrictions, but not Christian. The 38-year-old was more than ready to take the hard route and be with the team to make this opportunity count.

“The selectors gave the option of whether I wanted to go on this tour, knowing I have to come home and quarantine, then be out of quarantine for three days and go again,” Christian said told smh.com.au.

“They said, ‘We understand if you don’t want to do that if you want to stay in England’. I wouldn’t have been home until after quarantine in mid-October.

Dan Christian looking to make a mark during the West Indies tour

The 38-year-old last played for Australia way back in 2017 in a T20I game against India. But yet the selectors went for him due to his vast experience in playing leagues all over the world. Over the past two years, Christian has upped his game a bit by adding a power-hitting aspect to his batting.

In fact, the all-rounder played a pivotal role for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) in the past two seasons to allow the Men in Magenta to win back-to-back titles.

Now, Christian has rightfully got his due in the Caribbean tour. With his ability to bat, bowl and field the 38-year-old will look to make a mark and grab his chances during the six limited-overs matches.
