India is currently under lockdown due to the Coronavirus outbreak and everyone have been asked to go in quarantine. So, the professional and famous cricketers are left with nothing to do but spend their time interacting with the fans on social media. Recently, Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer did a Q&A round with the fans. And like many others, ended up geting tough job of picking a better player between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are being compared for years now after the latter has been breaking all sorts of records with his batting. Sometimes these comparisons look worthless as both these cricketers have played in different generations.
Tendulkar retired as one of the decorated batsmen in the history of cricket. He made his debut back in 1989 against Pakistan and ended up being one of the best batsmen. Sachin mustered a total of 18426 runs in ODIs and 15921 runs in Tests with 100 tons and 164 half-centuries across all the formats. He bid adieu to international cricket back in 2013 and still holds several records next to his name.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli is currently the best, who is always compared with the former legendary batsmen. The 32-year-old is just seven centuries away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for scoring most tons in the 50-over format. So far, Kohli has mustered a total of 11867 runs in ODIs and 7240 runs in Tests with the help of 70 tons and 80 half-centuries and looks set to own most of the batting records by the time he hangs his boots.
Both are great in their era, says Wasim Jaffer
So when a fan asked Wasim Jaffer to pick a player between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, it was a quite difficult choice for him to pick one between the two batting maestros. Jaffer, in response, hilarious came up with a funny meme.
Moreover, he also smartly didn’t pick any one among them and went on to point out that they played in different eras and have done a great job. “On a serious note, different eras. Both are great in their era,” Wasim Jaffer’s reply read.
