One of the much-awaited aspects of Indian Premier League 2018 was the return of Chennai Super Kings and along with that, also the return of ‘captain’ MS Dhoni. It was thus no surprise that the first game of the tournament featured CSK and its arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. The down to the wire game was T20 cricket at its best, and with CSK winning it, they proved that they are back to rule the tournament they have won twice.
Bravo’s knock of 30-ball 68
Defending champions Mumbai Indians looked as the favourites until the 17th over of the second innings. CSK required 47 runs from 18 balls, and Dwayne Bravo finished it in style for the MS Dhoni-led side. His match-winning 30-ball 68 took his side home and also became the talk of the internet.
‘What a champion’, wrote Wyatt
Among those who took to Twitter in awe of Bravo’s innings was England cricketer Danielle Wyatt, who is commonly known as a big fan of Virat Kohli. She has often been vocal about her craze for the Indian captain, but this time she seemed to have been blown away by the West Indies player’s heroic finish.
“DJ BRAVO, what a champion! Great start to the IPL What a tournament,” the 26-year-old batter wrote on her Twitter handle.

During this knock of 68 runs, Bravo was striking at an unbelievable rate of 226.66, which is the second-best strike rate against MI in the tournament’s history. Soon after the game, captain MS Dhoni also heaped praises on the West Indian, saying, “CSK v Mumbai is one game everyone wants to watch and we are coming back after two years. Overall, the spectators have been very good. The way Bravo batted it was really good to see him take the responsibility.”
All in all over the years, the swashbuckling batsman has scored 1306 IPL runs from 107 matches at a strike rate of 128. He has also scalped 122 wickets.
