David Warner and Quinton de Kock’s ongoing spat may have taken its fight off the field, but incumbent Australia coach Darren Lehmann has come out in support of the southpaw. CCTV footage captured both de Kock and Warner having a go at each other using what was reported to be personal insults against each other. Currently, this is being jointly investigated by the ICC and Cricket Australia.

Lehmann has gone ahead and stated that the management on tour will certainly be supporting Warner and will be hoping that he does indeed succeed in the upcoming Test match. He also added that there are lines that are crossed and that everyone certainly has their own opinions on the same.

“We’re certainly supporting David. We want to play a way that gets us success and for us, we’ve just got to make sure we don’t cross the line, that’s the key. “There are things that cross the line and evoke emotion and you’ve got to deal with that behind closed doors and get better at that. “Everyone has their own opinion. We’ll just wait and see what happens moving forward, how both teams want to play it.

“For us, we’re here to win the series. It’s going to be a bloody tough series as we’ve seen over the five days here. We’re looking forward to PE from our point of view.”

Part and parcel of Test match cricket

When asked about what he believed was the spat between the two, Lehmann went ahead and attributed the same to the fact that it was part and parcel of Test match cricket. “That’s part and parcel of Test match cricket. It’s a bloody tough game out there and you’re representing your country.

“Very proud countries, both sides. The way they want to play is fiercely competitive on the ground. As long as it doesn’t get personal, that’s probably the key.”
