The Coronavirus pandemic has left everyone helpless. Most of the nation are under lockdown with no sporting and other events going on. This has led to the cricketers resorting to social media to interact with their teammates and the fans. Rather some of them have gone live on Instagram and during the interaction, have picked their all-time XIs and asked the fans to respond to it as well.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers also did it recently as they picked combined Indo-SA ODI XI. This time around, David Miller and former Proteas bowler Monde Zondeki have teamed up to pick South Africa’s all time ODI XI. Interestingly, they divided the responsibility according to what they are best at doing. While Miller picked the top six batsmen of the team, Zondeki formed the bowling attack of the XI.

David Miller went with Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla as the openers of his team. Both of them opened the innings for South Africa for long and gave them some blistering starts. De Kock is the limited-overs captain now while Amla has retired after amassing 8113 runs in 181 ODIs.

David Miller picks star studded middle-order

The southpaw then picked a star-studded middle-order comprising of Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis. With Kallis, the team also gets an extra bowling option in the top six and the all-rounder is still regarded one of the best ever in both the departments of the game. Nothing much can be said about AB de Villiers as he is a legend of the sport whil Faf du Plessis is also one of the best batsmen of the last decade for South Africa.

He has also been named the captain of this team having led the Proteas to so many victories over the last few years. However, things went from bad to worse for him since the World Cup last year. Coming down the order, Monde Zondike took this opportunity to pick Lance Klusener, another all-rounder, at seven. His pace bowling attack comprised of the fiery trio of Shaun Pollock, Makhaya Ntini and Allan Donald.

Imran Tahir is the only spinner in the XI with JP Duminy to roll his arm if needed and bat at six. A total of five pace bowlers and two spinners make it a strong team and should be able to beat the best in the world. However, amidst all these players, Dale Steyn was the tough option to be left out as David Miller and Zondeki picked him as the 12th man.

Here’s the XI: Quinton de Kock (WK), Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis (C), JP Duminy, Lance Klusener, Shaun Pollock, Allan Donald, Makhaya Ntini, Imran Tahir.
