David Warner was retained as the first player by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). There is no doubt that he will continue to lead the side as they will look to build a decent side once again. Sunrisers had won the coveted title in 2016 under his inspired leadership and would want him to replicate the same this year. However, even Warner is pumped up to play for the franchise and looking forward to the eleventh season of the lucrative league.

David Warner has been the fulcrum of Sunrisers’ top order ever since he was signed by them in 2014. His stature as a T20 player has only increased after that as he consistently performed exceedingly well for them. The swashbuckling left-hander has amassed more than 500 runs in every season for them with a maximum being a whopping 848 runs in 2016 when they famously won the tournament. He had scored all those runs at a brutal strike rate of over 150 which proves that he was in amazing form during the whole season.

Warner itching to play in IPL in 2018

David Warner was busy playing in the fifth and final Ashes Test match when the news of SRH retaining him broke through. However, he has now posted a wonderful message on social media website Instagram after being retained by the franchise and has paid him a whopping Rs. 12.5 Crore. His message for his followers read, “The moment I got asked to stay @sunrisershyd I am extremely excited to be retained. Looking forward to what will be another great ipl #IPL2018. #orangearmy.”

Here’s Warner’s post:

Sunrisers have also retained Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has emerged as one of the best bowlers in the shortest format in the recent years. Both the players are expected to play an important role for them in the cash-rich league this year. Though the franchise will also look to provide them with a decent bunch of players with whom they can do wonders to their fortunes.
