Australian opener David Warner finally was able to spend some time with his family at home after a gruelling away season. David Warner and co. have been on the road for six months at a stretch. Warner took to Instagram to post a picture with his which depicted his joy after reaching his residence.

Australians took the early flight from London after losing the match against England in yet another rain inflicted game. Australians had to share their points against Bangladesh and New Zealand after persistent rains interrupted the match.

As a result, Australians had to win against England at all cost to book their berth in the semi-finals. But as it turned out, the Aussies found the English team too hot to handle, as they went on to win the match by a margin of six wickets.

David Warner also expressed his disappointment for not being able to win a single match in the tournament and were forced to take the early flight home. The early departure might also be a boon in disguise as the Australians who finally ended their series of away tours to finally spend quality time at home.

The gruelling season

The journey started out with a three-match One-day series in January which New Zealand won by 2-0. Warner then featured in a hard fought four-match Test Series in India which the Australians lost by 2-1. Warner, then, successfully captained the Sunrisers Hyderabad side in the recently concluded Indian Premier League.

Warner’s side managed to reach the playoffs before being knocked out in the first eliminator due to rains. The opener then toured England and Wales to represent his country in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy. Australia’s next major assignment starts in November when they host England for the Ashes series.

The swashbuckling opener posted a picture with his wife to express his joy after finally reaching home. “My love away from cricket. Gutted to be out of the tournament but it is what it is. Good luck to the rest of the teams. Looking forward to what is next on the calendar for us. #cricketlife @candywarner1” captioned the post from Warner.
