David Warner will not take part in Australia’s upcoming five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka that is scheduled to commence on 11th February 2022. Also, pacer Jhye Richardson will miss the kangaroos’ historic tour to Pakistan in March this year as well.

The Australian cricket team will tour Pakistan for the first time in more than two decades for a full-fledged series consisting of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and a T20I game in March this year. Richardson suffered a foot injury during the second Ashes Test match against the England side.

Cricket Australia (CA) has decided to rest Richardson due to a busy schedule ahead for the kangaroos for the next couple of years.

Australia has a number of fast bowling options at its disposal

The Australian cricket team has a number of fast bowling options at its disposal. They have left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins is an experienced pacer, Josh Hazlewood has regained full fitness, and then there is Scott Boland who impressed everyone with his superb performance in The Ashes series against England.

Also, Ben McDermott has experienced a surreal run with the bat in the Big Bash League (BBL) this year, and will most likely be picked in the Australian T20 squad and open with skipper Aaron Finch. Matthew Wade will don the wicket-keeping gloves for the Australian side for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. But, Wade might not travel to Pakistan.

Australia are expected to send a near full-strength squad to Pakistan in March. Marcus Harris will make a return to the Test squad, and Usman Khawaja is also expected to find a place in the Australian side for the tour to Pakistan.

Veterans Warner and left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc are likely to play only the Test series against Pakistan and will not feature in the subsequent limited-overs assignment because of the bio bubble life. Australia’s tour to Pakistan will commence on 3rd March 2022, with the 1st Test match slated to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi.
