The International Cricket Council (ICC) had recently appointed a special task force to inspect the playing possibilities in Pakistan. The ICC special task force was headed by Giles Clarke. Clarke was seen spending time in the country where international cricket has not been favored since 2009. During his visit, Clarke was given a first-hand demonstration of the security services in Pakistan and briefed about various other important details.

The ICC official looked happy with whatever he saw and also made a visit to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. At a news conference, both Clarke and the PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan were seen addressing the media on this issue. Giles Clarke emphasized with the Pakistani cricket fans. He said that the country will definitely host an overseas side sometime soon.

“I feel sad and can understand how the Pakistani people feel. But I am also hopeful that with the security situation in Pakistan improving, the day is not far off when the Pakistani people will be able to see their team play against overseas sides at home,” quoted the ICC special task head.

He further added that Pakistan is an integral member of the ICC and they wish to see cricket back in the country. The council is trying their best to get the action back in Pakistan. “Pakistan is an important member of the ICC and we want to see international cricket in the country. We are doing whatever we can towards this direction,” he added further.

Pakistan last hosted an international team in 2015 when Zimbabwe played a limited overs series in the country. However, no major top team has toured Pakistan since the year 2009. It was a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team bus that stalled the cricket action in Pakistan. The PCB has been trying their best to get international action back to the Pakistani soil.
