Every now and then, Twitter comes up with a conversation or banter that is just too good to ignore. The fans always look forward to tweets from their beloved cricketers and the latter rarely disappoint. And recently, Dean Jones and Parthiv Patel were involved in a hilarious banter on the social media platform that left the fans in splits.

It all started when Jones took to Twitter to hilariously question Royal Challengers Bangalore’s decision to retain Parthiv. The Bangalore-based franchise has done a mass clear-out ahead of the upcoming auction next month. They have released all of their overseas players except long-serving AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali.

Overall, the franchise has released 12 players. They have released Dale Steyn, Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetymer, Akshdeep Nath, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Colin de Grandhomme, Prayas Ray Barman, Tim Southee, Kulwant Khejroliya, Himmat Singh, Heinrich Klaasen and Milind Kumar. The mass clear-out was not at all surprising.

Royal Challengers Bangalore once again failed to do well last season and ended up at the bottom. They started the tournament with six losses on the trot which all but ended their hopes of progressing ahead. They did manage to do well in the second half of the competition but five wins from 14 games were just not enough to progress ahead.

Coming to Jones’ tweet, he re-tweeted RCB’s director of cricket operations, Mike Hesson’s post and wrote, “You kept @parthiv9?”

And the former Australia batsman did not have to wait long to get a response to his tweet. Parthiv noticed the tweet and gave a fitting reply to the ex-cricketer-turned-commentator, writing, “So that u can be at peace during ipl in #selectdugout”

Parthiv Patel’s impressive campaign

Unlike the franchise, Parthiv Patel had a decent outing last season. In fact, he was one of their most consistent players last season. The left-handed batsman scored two fifties and finished the competition with an impressive 373 runs in 14 games. He was the third-highest run-getter for the Royal Challengers behind only Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
