Deepak Chahar says that he follows MS Dhoni’s advice blindly

Young fast bowler Deepak Chahar was a part of the IPL 2018 champion Chennai Super Kings side and is excited to help the team defend their title in the 2019 edition that begins from March 23. CSK will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener in Chennai. The 26-year-old medium-pacer took 10 wickets in 12 matches in the 2018 season, bowling largely during the Powerplay and impressed everyone with his ability to swing and seam the ball under the lights.

Deepak admitted that the influence of skipper MS Dhoni on the CSK team is the reason why they were successful in their comeback to the league after two years. He felt that Dhoni’s reading of the game is very good and the team believes him in full. “Individuals can win matches but it is team effort which helps achieve the consistency that puts the side in a position to win titles,” Chahar was quoted in an interview with the CSK website.

“We have full belief in our skipper’s (MS Dhoni) reading of the game – it’s Mahi bhai – we follow what he says. He’s the best, a legend, what he says always has logic, we believe in him and blindly follow what he says,” Chahar added about the three-time IPL winning captain.

Playing for CSK boosted my career  

The Haryana born cricketer attributed that playing for Chennai and spending time with Dhoni has boosted his career. CSK also extended their record of qualifying to the Playoffs to all nine seasons. “CSK gave my career a big boost. It is a team that I have always wanted to play for. Because of my performances here, I got the opportunity to represent India in limited-overs cricket,” Chahar said.

He further emphasized the guidance Dhoni gave him and stated, “Mahi bhai is someone who gives you a lot of confidence. He backs you to believe in yourself. Mahi bhai is not someone who will come and tell you what to bowl during a match unless required. He allows you to back your skills and reading of the situation.”

Another piece of information he shared was that MS Dhoni’s room was open for anyone to come in and talk to him about his views about their performances and the veteran would always boost their confidence.
