The Kings XI Punjab are having a horrid run in this edition of the IPL. They started off poorly, got one victory over the Supergiants, but failed to continue the winning momentum. However, the skipper David Miller is still optimistic about the hopes of his team making to the playoffs.
Despite being at the bottom of the table with 4 defeats in 5 matches, the Kings XI skipper David Miller has faith in his side and believes they can stage a comeback. He said they have a great side with a lot of potential. “In this tournament, if you’re down and out, you are going to stay that way for the whole tournament. But I believe that we’ve got a great squad, great mixture of players and we definitely are in the hunt. I believe that a 100 percent,” quoted the 26 year old South African.
Miller said it is a matter of couple of games and they would be right back in the hunt. “Like I said before the game, if we win today, we’re one win away from top of the board so we are very close and we just have got to make sure that we go into a little roll and hopefully get one or two wins. Obviously disappointed. I hate losing, but the thing is we’ve got another nine games,” Miller said after KXIP lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Well, the KXIP can certainly take a lot of inspiration from the Mumbai Indians, who lost their first 5 games last season but emerged as Champions in the end. But it would take a herculean task to achieve that. More importantly, David Miller and Glenn Maxwell will have to fire for that to happen.

Miller also stressed on the fact that despite losing, the players have shown good spirit and fought hard till the last moment. This was evident when SRH were cruising towards a 10 wicket win but could win by just 5 wickets at the end. “I am really proud of the group that I have and with the fightback. That’s something that maybe we’ve been lacking in the last couple of games. But that little spark is back. So I am really looking forward to the next game because if we continue with that and put a little bit more runs on the board, we’d definitely be a team that’s dominant,” said Miller.
“The fight in the end there was really, really good. Guys stuck to the plans with the bowlers. We took some good run outs, good catches. We showed good heart. I am actually pretty positive and chuffed for the boys after how we finished,” he added further.
