While India have been dominating the first Test so far, they still need five more wickets on day five to win the match, and lead the series. Despite having a batting collapse during their second innings, the Kohli-led side gave a stiff target of 305 for the hosts to chase down. However, South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada still feels that his team can end on the winning side.
While the Proteas pacer picked three wickets in the first innings of the Centurion Test, he went on to then pick a four-fer in the second innings. When asked if his side could still win the Test, he was of the opinion that they could if they show belief, and strategize their approach. He also went on to appreciate his captain Dean Elgar’s gritty and unbeaten knock of 52 at stumps on day four.
“Definitely. We have just got to show belief. Strategize overnight and see how to approach this. Every sportsman has got to believe. Dean is doing his best for his team, his country and himself. He is leading from the front. He has done it countless times,” said Kagiso Rabada, as quoted by The New Indian Express.
India have a good bowling attack: Kagiso Rabada
However, the 26-year-old was in awe of India’s pace attack. He spoke really highly of them, and appreciated the pacers of the visiting team. The speedster appreciated their skills as well.
“They got some quality bowlers. (Mohammed) Shami and (Jasprit) Bumrah are very experienced and (Mohd) Siraj has been bowling well in the recent past. They have a good attack, they got pace and they have got skills. They are showing why they are a good attack,” he said. The leader of South Africa’s pace attack went on to then speak about the debutant Marco Jansen. He gave an overview of the youngster’s bowling style.
“He (Jansen) is a phenomenal talent. He is an awkward customer to face. There is swing, bounce and pace coming at you. In the (Indian) second innings, he justified his selection…he seems like he wants to learn. He is a hard worker. He is really keen on doing well for his team and himself,” said Rabada.
