Delhi Daredevils to take a decision on Mohammed Shami after BCCI's directions

Amidst the multiple allegations Indian pacer Mohammed Shami finds himself in trouble. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it clear that they will wait and watch how the investigation pans out before taking a call as suggested by their decision to withhold his central contract with the Indian team.
While the decision was scrutinized heavily, Shami’s second ‘employer’, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils have also clarified that their stand will depend on what the BCCI instructs. Hemant Dua, the CEO stated that they are awaiting directives from the board and their move will be based on the same.
“We are awaiting a direction from the BCCI with regards of to Shami. We will follow what they decide,” Dua said as reported by Mirror Now.
The Indian Premier League season 11 will commence on April 7, which is less than a month, and all parties involved will hope clarity is sought within the period. Presently, the Kolkata Police has booked the India pacer and four others under various non-bailable and bailable sections after his wife Hasin Jahan lodged a complaint of domestic violence and infidelity against him.
Charges against Shami
Seven charges have been levelled against the India pacer, one of them being attempt to murder by “food poisoning and physical attack”. A rape charge has been levelled against Shami’s elder brother, the case was registered under non-bailable sections 307 (attempt to murder), 498-A (subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 376 (punishment for rape), Kolkata Police Joint CP (Crime) Praveen Tripathi said.
The five have also been booked under bailable sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) among others, he said.
“On the basis of the written letter of complaint of Hasin Jahan, a case has been recorded against Mohammed Shami and four others in Jadavpur Police Station,” Tripathi added.
Police, however, declined to divulge details of the four others. Shami, at the moment, continues to maintain that the allegations are false and a bid to malign him and a conspiracy to destroy his cricket career.
