The former skipper of Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) Gautam Gambhir’s departure from the team has raised a big question among fans and even among cricket pundits as to who will ably fill in the spot. While the captaincy issue has turned out to be a greater topic to ponder upon, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has a word of advice for KKR’s management to go with the gut feel and having faith in the skipper is the key.

After the selection of the formidable side, the cricket fans were still in a bewildered state as which player will get a chance to lead the side. Apparently, It seems the KKR management has come up with a unique way to pick their captain for the coming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The management and the support staff has decided that the captain will be selected in a live session where fans will vote.

The management is all set to offer a chance for their fans to nominate their choices for the captain via fan poll starting February 25 on their official website. After which, Star Sports and KKR will finally announce ‘KKR ka Captain Kaun?’ on March 4.

Sourav Ganguly’s take

In an exclusively on the Knight Club show on Star Sports, the former India skipper Sourav Ganguly said, “It is important for KKR to entrust their new captain with the kind of faith and stability they showed in Gautam Gambhir. He also added that Robin Utthapa is best suited to become the new captain.”

The franchise took Twitter to ask their fans to get going and choose their favorite player for that spot. For almost 24 hours after the poll went live, the tweets that give us a hint as to who could be the next captain of the Knights.

Fans were mostly divided over two wicket-keepers Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik as Chris Lynn seems to be out of the league. Eyeing for his injuries, he might well have been sidelined.
