Deodhar Trophy is currently in progress as India A and India C are fighting it out for a place in the final against India A in Delhi. India A opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted a decent total on the board. However, during the action in the middle, there was a funny moment as India A batsman Ankeet Bawne came out to bat forgetting one of his gloves. To add to his agony, he bagged a first-ball duck after delaying the proceedings.
The incident took place in the 45th over after Dinesh Karthik was dismissed. Ankeet Bawne then strode out to bat wearing a glove and after walking halfway towards the crease, the batsman realised that he had forgotten the other glove even as his teammate assisted with the same quickly. Bawne himself was laughing after the incident as the players on the field enjoyed the moment.
Bags a golden duck
Karthik was dismissed in the quest for quick runs after scoring 32 runs off 23 balls. India A needed Ankeet Bawne to score quick runs as well in order to post a mammoth total in a virtual semi-final clash. However, things didn’t go as planned for the cricketer and was dismissed off the very first ball.
Vijay Shankar bowled a fuller length delivery which Bawne tried to swap it over the top. But the bat turned in his hand and the mid-wicket fielder easily took the catch to cut short his stint in the middle. Meanwhile, Kedar Jadhav played a superb knock in the death overs and propelled India A’s score to 293 runs after 50 overs. He remained unbeaten on 41 off just 25 balls with two maximums and a same number of fours.
Earlier in the innings, the top three Abhimanyu Easwaran, Anmolpreet Singh and Nitish Rana scored half-centuries and set a platform for the middle-order to come. However, none of the three could convert it to a big score.
