Australia A began their tour of England with a comfortable win against Northamptonshire in the first of the 5-match unofficial ODI series. Ashton Agar starred with three wickets to restrict Northampton to 262/9 despite the top-order’s resilience. Matthew Wade gave no chance once he stepped on the field as the Aussies raced towards the target almost at a rate of nine an over.
Wade smashed three maximums and 18 fours on his way to a 117 from just 67 deliveries. Peter Handscomb carried on his ODI form into this series with a 57-ball 64. Australia A hardly got a challenge while batting as they chased down the target in only 36 overs for the loss of four wickets. They will be touring Derby to face the hosts Derbyshire on Sunday.
The 2nd game of the 5-match unofficial ODI series will be played between Derbyshire and Australia A at the County Ground in Derby.
The match starts at 1:00 PM local time (12:00 PM GMT) (5:30 PM IST).
The County Ground in Derby has been a high scoring venue and the short square boundaries are an addition to the batting tracks. The last List A game hosted by this ground saw a successful 350+ chase. Australia A could plunder a huge total if they bat first this time.
Average first innings score: 304 (Last 5 List A matches)

Derbyshire has announced their playing XI for this game.
Matthew Wade has had interesting outings in List A cricket recently. In his previous 8 matches, Wade scored 304 runs at an average of 38. He scored exactly 117 in two of them and bagged three ducks in another three. If Wade starts off well, he would end up scoring big. The keeper-batsman showed the same during the Big Bash League 2018/19.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Peter Handscomb and Matthew Wade would be first preferred choices after the first game. Among the home team players, the likes of Billy Godleman, all-rounders Matt Critchley and Wayne Madsen can be picked for these roles.
Other Captain/Vice-Captain Options (in order) – Mitch Marsh, Alex Hughes, Travis Head.

Australia A could make changes to their bowling for the 2nd game. Michael Nesser went for quite a few runs and could be replaced with James Pattinson. The paceman has good experience of playing in England over the last couple of years.
Australia A is expected to go 2-0 up in the One-Day series with a comfortable win against Derbyshire.
