Former Rising Pune Supergiant and Indian captain MS Dhoni may not have been at his fluent best throughout the IPL, but still, Twitter cannot just stop talking about him. In the ten matches, he has featured in, he has only scored 199 at an average 28.42 at a decent strike rate of 113. But the promising aspect for Dhoni this season is that he was responsible for the winning streak Rising Pune Supergiant find themselves in currently.
The RPS campaign looked lackluster, much like the previous edition the IPL. Before playing against the Sunrisers, they were languishing at the bottom half of the table and many had written them off in the tournament predicting their indifferent performance much like last season. They won only two of their first five matches in the IPL.
However, the turning point of their campaign can be credited to MS Dhoni’s onslaught with the bat against the Sunrisers as he single-handedly took his side towards victory out of nowhere with his 61 off 38 balls. He took the Purple Cap holder Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the cleaners in the penultimate over of the match and sealed a win for his side. Since then, RPS have won 5 out of their 6 games and find themselves as the leading contenders for the IPL Playoffs.
As per a report in Hindustan Times, MS Dhoni, for the fourth consecutive week, heads IPL player emoji leaderboard on Twitter. He is closely followed by Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir on the second spot. Virat Kohli took the third spot by taking over Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma who’s fourth and the multi-million dollar man Ben Stokes from the Supergiant at the fifth spot.
Mumbai Indians not only tops the table at the IPL but also tops the list of most talked about team in the Indian Premier League. The Super over thriller at Rajkot, between Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians, is the most talked about match in this edition of the IPL.
