Rajasthan speedster Deepak Chahar, who recently wrecked havoc with a stupendous spell in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy looks extremely eager to reunite with former India skipper MS Dhoni in the upcoming season of IPL. The 25-year-old recorded a career-best 5 for 15 in the Super League stage to take Rajasthan to their maiden final appearance in the SMA Trophy.

He was part of the Rising Pune Supergiant (RSP) in the last edition, which was skippered by Dhoni. And having shared the dressing room with the iconic gloveman, Chahar is eager to play alongside the Indian great. He has a reserve price of INR 20 lakh and will go under the hammer at the IPL auction this weekend.

Speaking to reporters after their match against Punjab at Eden Gardens, the youngster revealed, “It was a great learning experience from Dhoni. I not only shared the dressing room but his room as well – as anyone could walk into his room which remained open 24 hours. The medium-pacer added, “He takes utmost care of the juniors, doesn’t hesitate to join us on the dinner table. It helps the juniors so that they don’t develop a complex. I will look to play with him again.”

Dhoni provided important insights to Chahar

During the stint, the youngster received important advice from MS Dhoni. Chahar revealed Dhoni was aware his performance in the tournament would be watched by the IPL franchises and guided him accordingly.

Chahar returned with figures of 2/9 before limping off the field with a strain in their final Super League fixture. Punjab won the match by five runs but could not make the final after finishing second to Rajasthan on net run-rate. Rajasthan will now clash against a star-studded Delhi in the summit clash at Eden Gardens tomorrow and Chahar is well aware of the significance of the match.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed sublime form, of late, which has garnered widespread prominence, and Chahar will aim to live up to the reputation, especially with the meg IPL auctions slated to take place this weekend.
