Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne fought a lone battle in the second Test against India in Bengaluru on Monday (March 14). He slammed a scintillating century on a tough pitch during the Pink-ball Test showing excellent technique against spin bowling of high class. No wonder the cricketing fraternity lauded him for his batting and congratulated the southpaw for his knock.

Congratulatory messages flooded in for Karunaratne on social media as well. However, he unknowingly goofed up while responding to one of the tweets. India’s one of top commentators Harsha Bhogle had lauded him for scoring a fourth innings century in August 2019. And the Sri Lanka captain hilariously responded to that three-year-old tweet thanking Harsha.

It was a Test match played between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at Galle International Cricket Stadium. Dimuth Karunratne had scored a brilliant 122 in the fourth innings helping Sri Lanka chase down 268 without much fuss. Harsha Bhogle had lauded the left-hander for that exceptional knock.

“A fourth innings hundred is special. And it has come from a very fine player. #DimuthKarunaratne,” Bhogle’s tweet read from August 2019 to which the 33-year-old replied on March 15, a day after the Bangalore Test ended.

Here’s the thread:

Bhogle didn’t tweet for Karunaratne after ton in Bengaluru Test

Interestingly, Harsha Bhogle didn’t tweet for Dimuth Karunaratne after his century in the recently concluded Bengaluru Test match. He lauded Sri Lanka’s counter-attack on the third morning as a refreshing approach from Kusal Mendis and Karunaratne. But once wickets started falling, despite the latter’s brilliance, India soon wrapped up the proceedings to register a thumping win by 238 runs.

Harsha Bhogle was busy appreciating India’s invincible record at home in Tests and also praised Rishabh Pant for his superb keeping skills during the Test series. The southpaw also won the Player of the Series for his aggressive batting and exceptional wicketkeeping.
