The death of African-American George Floyd has brought to light the injustice black people have been facing over the years. West Indies cricketer Darren Sammy openly spoke about the issue recently. He also alleged some of his ex-Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammates of calling him ‘Kalu’. Along with him, the likes of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo also raised their voice against the matter.

Amidst all the happenings, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) has also set an example by deleting a disturbing tweet of a user on social media. The franchise reported the account as well and blocked him as well. The Royals cleared their stand on racism in a tweet on Tuesday.

The tweet stated that they found an objectionable tweet in a reply to one of their tweets on Monday towards one of the Royals player and they took the action accordingly. ” We spotted a highly objectionable & disturbing tweet directing racist abuse towards our player in a reply to one of our tweets yesterday. We reported & blocked the individual immediately. Diversity is integral to Rajasthan Royals. Racism will NOT be tolerated,” the tweet read.

Sammy’s racism claims

Soon after the matter heated up in the USA, Darren Sammy had urged the ICC and other cricket boards to raise their voice against racism. He had come up with a series of tweets regarding the same and felt that now is the time to open up about the issue.

Right now if the cricket world not standing against the injustice against people of color after seeing that last video of that foot down the next of my brother you are also part of the problem. @ICC and all the other boards are you guys not seeing what’s happening to ppl like me? Are you not gonna speak against the social injustice against my kind.

“This is not only about America. This happens everyday #BlackLivesMatter now is not the time to be silent. I wanna hear u,” he wrote in his tweets.
