Virat Kohli, the skipper of the Indian cricket team, on Monday, January 11, became a father to a baby girl with wife Anushka Sharma. Back in August 2020, the 32-year-old spilt the beans on his wife’s pregnancy and also took paternity leave to be with her. He played the ODI and T20I series and the opening Test at the Adelaide Oval after which he went back to India.
The baby was born in a private hospital in Mumbai. In the last few months, the couple has been sharing a number of pictures on Anushka’s progress. Kohli and Anushka recently had dinner with teammate Hardik Pandya and his wife Natasa Stankovic.
After becoming a father, Virat’s joy knew no bounds. “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon,” Virat wrote in a message on his social media handles.
“We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love Virat,” he added.

The southpaw is a father of three kids along with wife Candice Warner, to whom he has been married since April 4, 2015. Warner replied to Kohli’s Instagram post and wrote, “Awesome news, congrats buddy. DM me for some tips”.

Earlier, in an interview with Vogue, Anushka said that they wish to keep their child away from the limelight. She also reckons that every child is special and shouldn’t be treated in a different way.
“We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye — we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with,” she had said.
