India’s gloveman Dinesh Karthik is currently out of the T20I team set-up as he, unfortunately, lost his spot due to the emergence of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batsman didn’t do anything wrong in the truncated version of the game yet he lost his spot because of his terrible form in ODIs.

Nonetheless, he will look to make his way back to the national team by performing well for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020. Recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send at least five cricketers to participate in Asia XI and World XI which have even got international recognition from ICC.

Given that Dinesh Karthik might not play for India for time being, he is one of the players who would get the nod to play for Asia XI. His work-rate behind the stumps has been remarkable. He has bagged 172 catches and affected 79 stumpings and might as well play the role of the Asia XI’s second wicket-keeper after Mushfiqur Rahim.

Meanwhile, a tweet has surfaced on social media which is doing the rounds on the internet showing the perfect son in law-mother in law duo in international cricket– Dinesh Karthik and Susan Itticieria.

The caption reads– “We all’ve heard about Yuvraj-yograj Singh father son duo. There is a unique son in law-mother in law duo in international cricket, None other than our very own @DineshKarthik & Susan Itticieria. Susan was a talented India women cricketer during 1970s, also mother to @DipikaPallikal.”

The gloveman’s mother-in-law by the name of Susan Itticheria is a former Test and One Day International cricketer who represented India during the 1970s. She played as many as seven Test matches and two One Day Internationals and has taken an aggregate of eight wickets in her career. Susan is the mother of popular Indian squash player Dipika Pallikal who is married to Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik.

Dinesh Karthik will be leading KKR in IPL 2020

Karthik has a plethora of experience of playing T20 cricket. Having played 288 T20s in his cricketing career, the right-handed batsman has scored in excess of 5,000 runs and has scored 29 fifties, registering his personal best score of 97* against Rajasthan Royals.

Dinesh Karthik announced his arrival at Kolkata Knight Riders squad in IPL 2018. The team management chose him as their new skipper after Gautam Gambhir‘s exit. He helped his team reach the playoffs in the eleventh IPL season but, unfortunately, could not qualify for the IPL playoffs in IPL 2019. However, Kolkata Knight Riders felt that Dinesh Karthik deserve a second chance and they have confirmed that he will skipper the team in IPL 2020.
