Former Sri Lankan fast bowler, Dhammika Prasad has tweeted about maintaining the sportsmanship of the game of cricket. The tweet came to the fore after he wrote about the performance of Tino Best against England. The West Indies player had broken the record for the highest score by a Test number 11. The West Indian had smashed 95 runs against England and took the team to its first total of over 400 in the series against England.

It was a match when for the first time England had gone into a home series without either Broad or Anderson. Appreciating that innings of Tino, Dhammika Prasad wrote: “Just we have to admire his efforts than talk about nonsense, we should appreciate the inning he played.” However, a Twitter user replied to the tweet bringing the attention of the Sri Lankan pacer to another user who seemed to be spreading hatred against Indian cricket and the bond between India and Sri Lanka.

Prasad pointed that he doesn’t know the him but respecting each other is a top priority. He highlighted the sportsmanship of the game and also recounted the moment when the BCCI had supported Sri Lanka cricket.

“Obviously I don’t know about him and who’s that guy, personally I feel he should respect others, as well as the other country’s as well, that’s called sportsmanship, when we were in trouble in 1996 @BCCI supported us, can’t forget that, so then you should respect others, thanks,” the tweet read. Many of Prasad’s followers appreciated his words and praised him for his thoughts.

Dhammika Prasad had recently joined the Sri Lanka Navy Cricket team

Dhammika Prasad has played 25 Test matches for Sri Lanka wherein he picked up 75 wickets. In ODI cricket, the pacer has clinched a total of 32 wickets from the 24 ODIs he has played. He recently took it to Twitter to announce that he has joined the Sri Lanka Navy Cricket team.

He wrote: “Proudly announce I joined with Sri Lankan navy cricket.” The Tweet received replies from his followers who congratulated him for the same. A few users also replied that it is a moment of pride and wished him the best for it.
