In the wake of the global pandemic due to spread of coronavirus, precautions and advisories given out by the Indian government and the administration across cities has become an important source of news and information for the people at large. But amid all this, the spread of misleading information, which could induce panic, is also a major issue.

As sportspersons across countries have been advising their fans and followers to follow the official guidelines, Indian cricketer Suresh Raina on Monday tweeted about the same to his 17.2 million followers on the micro-blogging site. Along with the tweet, the 33-year-old southpaw shared his picture where he’s wearing a face mask.

The tweet reads– “It’s very important that we understand the need of social isolation to break the chain, don’t spread information from unreliable sources, don’t ignore the health advisories & for sure follow the hygiene measures.”

The much-awaited IPL 2020 has been postponed in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak

India captain Virat Kohli had also tweeted on Saturday, advising people to ‘take all the precautionary measures and to be vigilant’ in the wake of the spread of coronavirus.

Raina has been one of the crucial mainstays of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise over the years in the Indian Premier League and his all-round efforts have played a vital part in CSK’s consistent performances. With 5,368 runs, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer is slightly behind Virat Kohli in the leading run-scorer chart in the IPL.

With the 13th season currently put on hold by the BCCI over the spread of coronavirus, Raina will be hoping that he gets an opportunity to show his prowess once again and stake a claim for a comeback in the national side as the World T20 is due to be held in Australia in October.

The IPL, slated to be held from March 29, has been postponed till April 15 as the board has adopted a wait and watch policy over the spread of Covid-19. Speculations have been rife that the league may be curtailed or if the matches go ahead then it may be played without audiences. The spread of the virus across the world has forced various sporting events to be either suspended or held behind closed doors.
