DuckTales of Shahid Afridi: Twitter reacts to Afridi’s duck on his birthday: 1st March is the day Shahid Afridi celebrates his birthday, has done it since he was born in 1980 (allegedly). Today he was sent ahead of in-form Shoaib Maqsood to give some momentum to the crawling Pakistani innings. This raised many eyebrows including that of former Pakistani captain Wasim Akram who mentioned that sending Afridi so early was a mistake as he is more effective with 7-8 overs remaining in the innings.

But Afridi came to the crease with the wicket of Umar Akmal just fallen to Sean Williams and played his first ball to the leg side. The second ball pitched on the leg stump and spun enough to beat the defense of Shahid Afridi’s bat and hit the off stump. It was a perfect and dream left arm off spinner’s dismissal for Sean Williams. Pakistan lost all the momentum they had built with the Misbah-Umar partnership and lost 2 wickets in one Williams over.

Shahid Afridi became the second batsman to get out for a duck on his birthday after England’s Ian Bell.
