The Emirates D10 league has come to an end, and Sharjah lifted the title by beating Fujairah in the summit clash of the tournament. Wielding the willow first, the Fujairah outfit put up a total of 123/3 in their allotted 10 overs. Even though the Fujairah side lost both their openers early, Chirag Suri stood up for his side.

Suri blasted a sensational 71* at a strike rate of 284.0, to power his side to a competitive total. His knock was embellished with 7 fours and 5 sixes. Suri was ably supported by Alishan Sharafu, who scored a 22 ball 26*. For Sharjah, the pick of the bowlers was Junaid Siddique, who scalped 2 wickets and gave away only 15 runs in his allotted 2 overs. In fact, apart from Siddique, every other bowler who rolled his arm over for Sharjah went at an economy rate of more than 10 runs an over.

In reply, the Sharjah openers provided a blistering start for their side. The duo of skipper Fayyan Ahmad and wicket-keeper Vriitya Aravind put on a whirlwind opening partnership of 69 runs off just 4.4 overs, as the Ahmed Raza-led Fujairah side was rendered totally helpless.

Vriitya Aravind’s heroics in the summit clash

Undoubtedly, the star performer for the Sharjah side with the willow was Vriitya Aravind. The wicket-keeper batsman’s 27-ball 66* was studded with 10 fours and 2 sixes, as Sharjah chased down a challenging target with 11 balls to spare, and won the title. Fayyaz Ahmad provided excellent support to Aravind and scored a 14-ball 32 at the top of the order.

Even though he could not set the stage alight in the final, Fujariah’s Waseem Muhammad emerged as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. The right-hander plundered 430 runs in the tournament and scored his runs at an average of 35.83 and at a strike rate of 241.57.

On the bowling front, Umair Ali of Sharjah emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. The right-arm pacer scalped 16 wickets in the tournament and picked his wickets at an average of 12.44 and at a strike rate of 8.60. And needless to say, Ali played a key role in Sharjah emerging as the champions of the Emirates D10 tournament.
