Sometimes, small things in a cricket match can go unnoticed. And, one such unnoticed moment took place in the second Test match between England and India at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The final ball of the Test match was one that brought about a lot of jubilation for the Virat Kohli-led Indian side. Mohammed Siraj bowled a ripper of a delivery, the ball beat James Anderson’s defense and crashed into his stumps, and India won the second Test to take a 1-0 lead.

And, many missed out on noticing Rohit Sharma’s excellent reflexes in the dying moments of the game. The ‘Hitman’, who was stationed in the slip cordon, caught the ball in quick time even though the ball came to him after hitting the stumps.

Rohit Sharma plays a crucial role in India’s win in the second Test at Lord’s

Rohit Sharma played a crucial role in helping India win the second Test match against England at Lord’s. Sharma scored a classic 83 in the first innings, and put on a sensational 126-run opening partnership alongside KL Rahul, who scored 129.

In his innings that lasted 145 deliveries, the ‘Hitman’ scored 11 fours and a six and made the England side chase leather. In the second innings, Sharma scored a 36-ball 21.

Apart from Sharma and KL Rahul, two men who garnered attention in India’s victory over England were Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. And, their crucial contribution with the willow in the second innings played a key role in helping the Indian side beat England in the second rubber.

Bumrah scored 34 off 64 deliveries, while Mohammed Shami smashed a 70-ball 56 for the Indian side. And, it was their 89-run partnership that helped the Virat Kohli-led Indian side gain control of the second Test match and helped them set England a target of 272 for victory.

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah then cleaned up the England batting lineup, picking up 7 wickets between them in the second innings. Joe Root and his men were bowled out for a meager total of 120, as India hammered the hosts by 151 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.
