England had a forgettable outing on Day 1 of the first Test against India. Electing to bat first at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, the home team couldn’t do much against India’s four-man pace attack. Jasprit Bumrah and Co breathed fire with the red cherry and took wickets at regular intervals. As a result, the Three Lions were bundled out for a below-par score of 183.

The only time momentum seemed shifting towards England was when skipper Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were in the middle. The duo showcased remarkable resilience on a challenging track, and added 62 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Bairstow fell prey to Mohammed Shami for 29, and it was one-way traffic after that. England lost their last seven wickets inside 45 runs as the visiting team was on a roll.

Not one but two Jonny Bairstow

With Bairstow’s wicket proving to be the turning point of the game, many England fans would have wanted the veteran batsman to play a significant knock. However, not many in the Nottingham stadium would have hoped for Bairstow’s success more than his own doppelganger. A duplicate of the right-handed batsman was spotted in the stands and the picture went viral in no time.

Just like Bairstow, the spectator was sporting brown beard and hair, and fans were quick to spot the same. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s doppelganger soon became the talk of the town with social media getting flooded with memes and interesting posts.

While the veteran cricketer’s duplicate might be enjoying the attention, the OG Jonny Bairstow wouldn’t be satisfied with his performance. Nevertheless, he’ll come out to bat in England’s second innings as well. Hence, he must gear up to play an impact. Meanwhile, India firmly had the command at the end of Day 1.

Openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul brilliantly tackled the new Dukes ball as the visitors didn’t lose any wicket at stumps. India finished the day at 21/0 and would be mighty pleased with their effort. Hence, England bowlers need to put up a substantial effort on the second day to bring their side back in the hunt.
