Team India‘s all-rounder Hardik Pandya is one of the more enigmatic players in the side. Boasting of confidence and effervescence, the 24-year old has now become a rather crucial member of the Indian side. Having initially made his mark in T20 cricket with the Mumbai Indians and subsequently the Indian team,  Pandya also has cemented his place in the Test squad, thus adding a much-needed balance.

On the recent tour to Ireland and then England, the 24-year old has certainly not been in the best of form. Having been off with the ball, he was no better with the bat as the Brits began posing serious questions regarding the fragility of the Indian middle-order batting.

Following the disappointment of the ODI series loss, Pandya has now found himself with a week or so to rest himself back to full fitness before the commencement of the five-match Test series. The Indian selectors have named an 18-man Test squad for the series, something that will extend into five matches and an entire month of cricket as well.

The selection committee has been a wee bit adventurous this time around and have managed to name the likes of Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav in the side as well. Shardul Thakur has been named in the place of an injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Although the loss of Kumar may well jolt the visitors, Ishant Sharma has proved previously that he is indeed a capable leader of the pace battery which now features several pacers.

Here is what Pandya Jr. had to say in Instagram

Pandya post read as, “Gutted with the results last evening but we learn from it! Now back to London for some rest time.”
