Fast bowler Ollie Robinson gave Rishabh Pant a brutal send-off during the opening day’s play of the third Test between England and India at Headingley in Leeds. Pant failed to make an impact with the bat in hand, as he could only manage to score two runs off nine balls before Robinson accounted for his wicket.

He became the speedster’s second wicket of the day on Wednesday. The bowler bowled a good length ball and Pant tentatively poked at the delivery. To the latter’s dismay, he found the outside edge and Jos Buttler took a rather simple catch behind the wickets. Pant played a nothing shot as he was caught on the crease.

After he dismissed Pant, Robinson was over the moon and showed his aggressive nature.  The pacer kept celebrating for a very long time, showing how important was the dismissal for the Brits.

We need to take everything on our chin: Rishabh Pant

On Day one of the Leeds Test, India were shot out for a paltry 78 in 40.2 overs. Only Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane managed to get into double digits. Pant stated that the pitch eased out as the day progressed. He also reckoned that India have every chance of making a comeback.

“In the morning, the wicket was slightly on the softer side and they bowled in good areas. We could have applied ourselves better. We can learn from it and only move on. That’s all we can do as cricketers. You learn from your mistakes and improve,” Pant said.

“Whatever decision we take; we take as a team. So, once we have decided we are going to bat first, we are going to back our decision. Yes, we could have applied much better but we can’t keep on thinking too much about the toss,” he stated.

“It’s part and parcel of the game. Every day the batting unit is giving hundred per cent but sometimes it doesn’t go well. We need to take everything on our chin rather than thinking about pressure,” Pant added.

England are currently leading by 42 runs with all their 10 first-innings wickets in hand. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed have notched half-centuries.
