One aspect Team India lacked in the second ODI against England at Lord’s was the fact that their bowling was quite off. Although the spin twins of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav managed to bring things back on track for the most part, it was clear that the century from Test skipper Joe Root would be enough to get the Brits home.

With Jasprit Bumrah out injured following the series against Ireland, it came down to the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the newfound confidence Umesh Yadav had to make sure the Indians did indeed have a competitve bowling unit. However, those plans were once again thrown into a wrench when India’s spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar was out injured for a few days with a strain.

This ensured that Kohli’s Under-19 teammate Siddharth Kaul would be given a run-out following his exploits in the IPL with the Sinrisers Hyderabad. While Kaul might have gone through a literal baptism of fire, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to announce a piece of good news.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was seen bowling in the nets at Leeds prior to India’s third and final ODI. While it is clear that the pacer will certainly have a role to play in proceedings, the Indian cricketing team management has another headache to deal with. This headache will see either Umesh Yadav or Siddharth Kaul lose their place in the side. It is certainly most likely to be the latter since Kaul was one of the few who went for plenty in the ODI at Lord’s.

As things stand, the series is tied at 1-1 with both India and England preparing to lock horns in Leeds for the final ODI.

Here is the good news the official BCCI handle had for the Indians:
