Both teams will be heading into this clash after contrasting results in their respective encounters. The defending champions are in a spot of bother, having lost their first three games. They went down to South Africa by three wickets in their previous fixture.
The Indian eves on the other hand will be pumped up ahead of the contest against their 2017 final opponents. The Mitali Raj-led side had suffered a 62-run loss to hosts New Zealand after a 107-run win over arch-rivals Pakistan. They then staged a remarkable comeback with a morale-boosting 155-run win over the West Indies.

Both teams had faced off against each other in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 23, 2017. England seemed to be in a spot of bother at 63/3 after winning the toss and electing to bat first before vital knocks from wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Taylor and Nat Sciver propelled the hosts to a respectable total of 228/7 from their 50 overs. Taylor scored 45 runs off 62 deliveries while Sciver scored 51 runs from 68 balls.
In reply, India lost the key wicket of star opener Smriti Mandhana early but, her opening partner Punam Raut took on the English bowlers with a fine knock of 86 runs from 115 deliveries. The middle-order duo of Harmanpreet Kaur (51) and Veda Krishnamurthy (35) also contributed with fighting knocks and brought India within touching distance.
Unfortunately, once Veda was dismissed, the middle and the lower-order failed to handle the big match pressure, and the Women in Blue were bowled out for 219 in the penultimate over. England were thus crowned the Women’s ODI world champions for a fourth time with a nine-run victory.
