England announce ODI and T20 squads for India tour

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the T20I and the ODI squads for the series against India. Limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan is back in the team and will be in-charge of the side. England are scheduled to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is after the conclusion of the ongoing Test series. The first ODI will be played at Pune on January 15. Along with Eoin Morgan, opener Alex Hales is also making a comeback.

Both Alex Hales and Morgan had backed out from the Bangladesh tour recently citing security reasons. There were speculations about them being in the side for India tour. The board has put aside all such speculations to announce the comeback of the two players. Joe Root is also back in the 15-member squad for T20s and ODIs. Root was rested for the series against Bangladesh.

Jake Ball has been retained in the ODI setup following his sensational debut against Bangladesh recently. Liam Dawson, who was recently named in the England squad for the last two Tests, also finds himself in the ODI setup. The pace department will see David Willey, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett join Jake Ball. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid feature as the other two spinners in addition to Dawson.

In the T20I squad, Chris Jordan is added at the expense of Dawson. Tymal Mills has also earned the call-up. Mills was recently seen featuring in the Bangladesh Premier League. Sam Billings has been added to the squad. Ben Duckett, Steven Finn and James Vince all miss out from the current setup of the England limited-overs side. Prior to the commencement of the ODI series, England will play two warm-up matches at Mumbai on January 10 and January 12.
