Making himself quite clear on the Virat Kohli versus Babar Azam debate, England batter Jos Buttler has rated former Indian skipper Kohli’s cover drive above Pakistan skipper Babar’s. It must be noted that cricket fans and experts have often drawn a comparison between two stars of the cricketing world. However number-wise, Kohli is currently leading the contest.

Kohli made his international debut against Sri Lanka in 2008 and since then, he has been a prolific performer in his country. The 33-year-old has amassed more than 12,000 runs in 260 ODI matches. Similarly, he has made more than 8,000 runs in the longest format of the game. In T20Is, Kohli has made 3296 in 97 matches and at an excellent average of 51.5. The right-handed batter is currently participating in the 15th edition of IPL, representing the Red Army. Kohli’s bat has not fired in the tournament as yet. However, the batter of his capability can change things very quickly.

On the other hand, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been a prolific performer for his country ever since he made his debut back in 2015. He is currently the skipper of his side across all formats of the game. Talking about Babar’s numbers in T20I cricket, the right-handed batter has played 74 matches in which he has amassed 2686 runs at an excellent average of 45.53. The 27-year-old plays with a strike rate of almost 130 and has stroked 26 half-centuries and one century in the 20-over format.

Pakistan are scheduled to play several international matches in the second half of the year as well. Pakistan will take on West Indies, the Netherlands, and Sri Lanka in the upcoming months and want to perform well in those matches to prepare for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Butler is currently representing Rajasthan Royals in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) edition. The right-handed batter has so far scored 375 runs in just six matches and is currently the highest run-getter in the tournament.
