England finished the 5-match series 3-0 with a huge win in the final ODI as they bowled out Sri Lanka for just 202 while defending 324/7. As a result, Sri Lanka couldn’t manage even a single win in this series. They missed out a chance in the first match of the series where England pulled out in a thriller to tie the game. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the 5th ODI and the series.

1 – For the first time Joe Root was dismissed/ remained unbeaten in 90s in his ODI career. He scored a century on 8 occasions whenever he had got into the 90s before this game.

4 – Number of fifty plus scores Dinesh Chandimal recorded in this series. He became only the 3rd wicket keeper batsman to score 4 fifties in a bilateral ODI series. AB de Villiers scored 4 vs Pakistan in 2013 while Kumar Sangakkara scored 5 fifty plus scores vs England in 2014 but it was a 7-match series.
4 – Number of times England scored 300+ in their last 5 ODIs at home while batting first. They were bowled out for 138 vs Australia which was the only instance where they failed to score 300+ while batting first.
7 – This is the 7th time England’s Top 6 players scored 20 or more runs in an ODI innings. 2nd time in this year. They recorded the instance vs South Africa at Bloemfontein.
11 – Number of players including Joe Root were dismissed/unbeaten in 90s in all 3 formats of international cricket. He is the 2nd England batsman after Alex Hales to record this.

12 – Number of fifties Sri Lankan batsmen have scored in this series without a century, the most they have scored in a bilateral ODI series. Only on two occasions, a team scored more fifties in a bilateral ODI series. Indians scored 13 fifties vs England in 7-match series in 2007 while Zimbabwe players also scored 13 fifties without a century in 5-match series vs Kenya in 2009.
83 – Runs conceded by Chaminda Bandara in this game, the most by a full member nation player in a 50-over game. Overall this is the joint 3rd most by a player on ODI debut.
93 – Joe Root’s 93 is now the highest individual score by an England player at Cardiff in ODIs.
100 – Sixes hit by Eoin Morgan for England in ODIs. He became the first England player to hit 100 ODI sixes. Morgan had hit 18 sixes while playing for Ireland in this format.

109 – Partnership stand between Joe Root and Jos Buttler in this game for England’s 5th wicket. This is now the highest 5th wicket stand in ODIs for England against Sri Lanka.
