Pacer Reece Topley’s sensational spell of 6/24 helped the English side to bounce back in the ODI series as they defeated the Indian team by a margin of 100 runs in the second game. Topley registered the best bowling figures for England in the history of ODIs as he set the tone for the downfall of the visitors. With the series level at 1-1, the third and the deciding contest takes place on July 17 at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Yuzvendra Chahal had a memorable outing at Lord’s as he scripted the best performance by an Indian at the venue in the format. The legspinner delivered a spell of 4/47 in ten overs, which included the crucial scalps of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes. Except for Ravindra Jadeja, all the bowlers were amongst the wickets as they restricted the hosts to 246 all out.

The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, who shared a century stand in the first ODI, got out for single-digit scores as the Indian batting line-up collapsed and got bowled out for just 146. Jos Buttler, England’s newly appointed white-ball skipper, would like to win the series after suffering a 1-2 loss in the T20Is.
