Back in 2011 and 2014, India had dismal outings in Test cricket on English soil. They could win only one match and lost seven of them. The team is scheduled to play five Tests against England from the next week and would be looking to make amends for their shambolic campaigns previously. Earlier, Virat Kohli and his troops won the T20I series 2-1, but couldn’t evade a defeat in the ODI series.

They recently played a practice match against Essex at County Ground in Chelmsford and is geared up to lock horns with Joe Root’s men. The first match will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on August 1 followed by matches at the iconic Lord’s, Trent Bridge, The Rose Bowl and Kennington Oval respectively.  In the meantime, pundits are busy analysing the team ahead of the red-ball fixtures.

India will have a great chance and stay in the fight- Zaheer

Recently, Gautam Gambhir and Zaheer Khan, two of the best cricketers of their generations, put forth their predictions for the upcoming series. Gambhir didn’t predict the scoreline, however, mentioned that the home team would have the upper hand and also backed his comments with clarifications. Zaheer, on the contrary, made an outright prediction.

”I feel that England has an edge. Because they have got James Anderson and Stuart Broad. I always believe Anderson has a part against India. If you look at history, Anderson will always go at India. England always goes hard at India and I feel they have an edge. But, India got the variety to do it this time. They have got the bowling to pick 20 wickets for the team,” Gambhir told to Cricbuzz.

”It would be interesting to see what kind of pitches the game will be played on. If the wicket is batting friendly, India will have a great chance and stay in the fight. I still feel going at Oval, 1-1 is what I am expecting. England would start cautiously. There will be flat tracks to play on. We might not get results. So, 1-1 is all I am expecting,” Zaheer mentioned.
