Nothing really has gone India’s way in the ongoing third Test against England. Batting first at the Headingly in Leeds, the visitors put up a horrendous batting show and got bundled out for mere 78 runs. While India were expected to make a comeback with the ball, the Three Lions didn’t let them do so. All from the top four crossed the fifty-run mark as England were 423/8 by the end of Day 2.

This means the hosts have a lead of 345 runs with two wickets in hand. Moreover, three days of play is left and India’s defeat seems a mere formality. It has to be noted that Joe Root’s men were under the pump heading into this clash, having lost the second game at Lord’s by 151 runs. Hence, they are trailing by 1-0 in the five-match series. However, the scores are all but likely to get settled by the end of this game.

Speaking of the proceedings of Day 2, England resumed at their overnight score of 120/0. Indian bowlers made the ball talk in the first hour as both openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed couldn’t score much on the second day. However, the baton of run-scoring was then passed onto comeback man Dawid Malan and skipper Joe Root. The duo didn’t disappoint and pushed India further back.

While Malan made 70 runs, Root advanced to his third century of this series. The likes of Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja got among the wickets later in the day but their effort looks all set to go in vain. Day 3 of the contest will be interesting to watch out for as Indian batters will have a point to prove in the third innings. However, the Virat Kohli-led side needs to take the remaining two English wickets to somewhat reduce the massive damage.

Here is a look at how the weather is expected to play on Day 3 of England vs India 3rd Test:

Uncharacteristically of the typical weather, rain hasn’t played any part in the first two days of the Headingly Test. Day 3 of the game is also not expected to witness any sort of interruption by weather. As per accuweather.com, clouds will dominate the major part of the sky at Leeds. However, the chances of rain are good as zero.
