It was a complete batting day at The Oval on Saturday with the pitch flattening out in the fourth Test between England and India. The visitors took full advantage of the conditions to stage a comeback in the game. They first wiped out the 99-run deficit and then built on the lead nicely as the day progressed. The light was not great in the end and when play was stopped 45 minutes early India had a lead of 171 runs with seven wickets in hand.

It was the result of the hardwork from the openers – KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. After playing out a tricky last hour on the second day, the duo showed a lot of patience and resilience during the testing first hour on the third morning. Though Rahul got out after scoring 46 runs, he had done his job.

Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara then blunted the English attack with a brilliant 156-run stand. It was also refreshing to see Pujara batting with positive mindset. Rather he outscored Rohit in the first half of the partnership before the latter took charge as he got close to his century.

Rohit Sharma scored his first overseas Test ton while Pujara contributed a vital 61 before both of them were dismissed by Ollie Robinson in the first over with the second new ball. At 237/3, England had a chance to make a comeback but Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were determined to not give them an opening and they prevented a collapse.

The fourth morning will be crucial for both sides yet again and it also remains to be seen if the weather will be set fair for the day’s play.

Here is a look at how the weather is expected to play on day 4 of England vs India fourth Test:

According to Accuweather, there will be a few dark clouds at 11 AM when the play starts and that is when the ball will move a bit as well. But as the day progresses, the sun will come out. Having said that, there is a 7% chance of rain from 2 PM to 6 PM and it will remain cloudy during this period. The temperature is expected to remain in the early 20s throughout the day.
