England hit back strongly at the Old Trafford to level the 3-match Test series against West Indies. The two teams remain in Manchester for the series-decider starting on Friday. While England would be looking at finding an ideal line-up for the longer format, the West Indies team aims history having not won a Test series in England in 32 years. England has named a 14-man squad ahead of the final Test which puts up suspense over the team selection, especially their bowling line-up.

Here we look at all the key stats and numbers ahead of the series-deciding Test match at the Old Trafford:

1/13 – The defeat during the 2019 Ashes was the only instance of England losing a Test match at the Old Trafford since the start of 2002. England played 13 Tests at this venue during this period and won ten including the recent victory against the Caribbean team.

19.27 – Shai Hope’s batting average of 19.27 since the start of 2018 in Test cricket is the lowest among the 65 players to have aggregated 500+ runs. Vernon Philander’s average of 21.59 is the second lowest among those 65 players. Hope amassed 559 runs during this period across 30 innings with help of two fifties.

8 – England ended up on the winning side in all the eight Test matches at home they played with Sam Curran in the playing XI. Andrew Strauss, Geraint Jones and Tim Bresnan were part of the winning England team in each of their first nine home Test matches.

85 – James Anderson has 85 wickets to his credit in Test cricket against West Indies. Only one player in Test cricket has managed to pick up more Test wickets for England against West Indies – Fred Trueman (86).

98 – Number of wickets Jason Holder has claimed in Test cricket as captain thus far. He needs two more wickets to become the first West Indies captain and overall the 9th captain in Test cricket to bag 100 wickets in service.

197 – Kemar Roach stands three wickets away from completing 200 wickets in Test cricket. Roach will become the 9th West Indian to 200 Test wickets and the first to do so among the players who made their West Indies debut after 1990.

933 – Runs Ben Stokes has amassed in Test cricket against the West Indies. He needs 67 more runs to complete 1000 Test runs against the Caribbean team.

1954 – Jason Holder has scored 1954 runs in his 41-match Test career thus far alongside 114 wickets. Holder needs 46 more runs to become just the 3rd West Indies Test cricketer with the all-round double of 2000+ runs and 100+ wickets.

1988 – If West Indies win the final Test match, it will be the first instance of them winning a Test series on English soil in 32 years. Their last Test series win in England came way back in 1988 when they won the 5-match series by 4-0 margin.

That series also witnessed the last instance of West Indies winning a Test match at the Old Trafford. West Indies played five Tests at this venue since then but lost as many as four games while another game ended in a draw.

1998 – West Indies have a chance to retain the Wisden Trophy for the first time in more than two decades if they win the series-decider or the match ends in a draw.

Between 1973 and 1998, West Indies held the Wisden Trophy for 13 consecutive series spread over a 25-year period. However, in ten series played in the last 22 years, they managed to win the title only twice.
