Indian Women’s team has managed a draw in the one-off Test against England after a brilliant show with the bat in the second innings. India scored 344/8 in the second innings after they were asked to follow on. With no chance of the match giving a result, it was decided to end it with a draw in the final session of the last day. Sneh Rana played a fighting knock of 80 runs for India to save the Test. Shafali Verma and Taniya Bhatia also made a vital contribution to the team. For England, Sophie Ecclestone picked up 8 wickets in the match.

Sneh Rana’s milestones

1 – Sneh Rana picked up 4 wickets in the first innings of the match, and scored a brilliant fifty in the second innings with the bat. She became the first-ever player in both Men’s and Women’s Test to do a double of a 4-fer and a fifty on Test debut.

3 – Sneh Rana’s score of 80 not out in the second innings was the third-highest individual score while following on in Women’s Test cricket.

344 – India scored 344/8 in 121 overs in the second innings while following on. This is the highest innings total for a team while following on in the Women’s Test, after West Indies’ team total of 440 against Pakistan in 2004.

A flurry of records for Shafali Verma

2 – Shafali Verma scored the fifties in both innings of the Test match. She became the first Indian woman to achieve this milestone on her Test debut. In terms of age, she became the youngest (17 years 141 days) ever player in the Women’s Test to do so. Overall in Test cricket, only Sachin Tendulkar achieved the milestone at a lower age (17 years 112 days).

159 – Shafali Verma scored a total of 159 runs in both innings of her debut Test. This is the third-highest match aggregate for a player on Women’s Test debut.

3 – Shafali’s match aggregate was also third-highest in the combined Men’s and Women’s Test debut for India.

3 – The Indian opener hit 3 sixes in her debut Test match. With this, she became the first woman to smash 3 sixes in a Test match.

114 – Shafali hit a total of 24 fours and 3 sixes in this game, and with this scored 114 runs by boundaries. This is the second-highest in the record tally in Women’s cricket on debut. While among Indian batters, she is only behind Shikhar Dhawan who hit 33 fours and 2 sixes on his Test debut taking the runs tally to 144.

96 – Shafali Verma‘s score of 96 in the first innings was the highest for Indian women on Test debut, while second highest in overall cricket for women below the age of 18.

2 – The young batter was adjudged as the player of the match, making her second youngest woman and second youngest Indian in overall Tests to win the award.

Memorable debut for Sophia Dunkley

3 – Sophia Dunkley played an unbeaten knock of 74-runs on her Test debut. This was the third-highest individual score for English women on Test debut.

Record partnership between Rana-Bhatia

104 – Sneh Rana and Taniya Bhatia added 104 runs for the ninth wicket in Indian innings. This was the second-highest partnership for the 9th wicket in Women’s Test cricket.

3 – The partnership between Sneh Rana and Taniya Bhatia was also the third-century partnership while following on in Women’s Test cricket.

44 – Taniya Bhatia scored 44 runs off 88 balls in the second innings which is the joint-highest for India at number 10 in the Women’s Test. In terms of debut Test, she is at the second spot after Shelley Nitschke who hit 81* runs on her Test debut while batting at number 10.
