Eoin Morgan is on the cusp of history. He will walk out to lead England in the final of the World Cup against New Zealand at the iconic Lord’s. Both the teams haven’t won the mega event and the players will give it all to be a part of the history on Sunday. While the hosts literally thumped Australia to make it to the title clash, the Kiwis stunned India defending 239 in the first semi-final and have got a real chance to complete their dream for the second consecutive time.

But the way England romped past their arch-rivals was some statement and no wonder they are being considered the favourites to win the trophy. But Eoin Morgan is not losing sleeping over the favourites tag and rather praised the Kane Williamson-led side. He termed them the hardest team to beat in the mega event so far and feels they are the deserving team to be in the play.

“I think New Zealand throughout the whole tournament have probably been the hardest side to beat,” he said after the second semi-final.

Their performance in the semis was the best

Eoin Morgan is completely aware of the threat New Zealand present and is in no mood to take them lightly. He realises that it won’t be easy to beat them in the final and was excited to take up the challenge. “I think their performance in the semi-final was probably their best. They will be a difficult side to beat on Sunday, so we are looking forward to the challenge,” the England skipper further added.

Also, speaking ahead of the final, the 33-year-old was excited about the match and was eager to take the field as soon as possible. “I certainly feel pretty relaxed. It is nice to be home. I’m also very excited about tomorrow. We’re going to enjoy the game regardless. We’re going to try and take in as much as we can, it’s a world cup final, and we’re not going to shy away from that. As long as anything doesn’t affect performance, we’re going to try and take it in,” he said.
