English limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan is likely to miss the first few games of the upcoming domestic season. Morgan has reportedly sustained an injury during a practice session. His injury comes as a big blow for his side, Middlesex. As per the reports in Sky Sports, Morgan injured his left thumb whilst batting in the nets last week.

The injury is set to keep him out of action for at least four weeks. The official announcement about the same has come from the club. They have confirmed that Eoin Morgan has fractured his thumb and hence, will miss the start of the Middlesex’s season.

“Eoin was hit on the left thumb whilst batting in the nets at Merchant Taylors’ School last Thursday and x-rays revealed that he suffered a small fracture. He will sadly be out of action for at least four weeks,” Middlesex said in a statement.

Injury concerns hit the Middlesex camp

Eoin Morgan is not  the only cricketer from the Middlesex camp to be injured ahead of the season. Batsman Nick Gubbins is also suffering from a hamstring injury that could potentially rule him out of the first few games. However, the club noted that Gubbins is making very good recovery.

“Nick continues to make excellent progress with his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury and we remain hopeful that he is on course for a full recovery towards the end of April,” the club noted.

Meanwhile, another key player of the team, Steven Finn, has sustained a minor knee injury as well. He injured his knee during his recent stint in the Pakistan Super League. The club is hopeful that Finn will be fit before the start of the season.

“Steven twisted his right knee whilst away with his franchise at the Pakistan Super League. Scans revealed a minor ligament strain which is settling well, and we are hopeful that he will be available for selection for the opening County Championship match of the season,” Middlesex quipped in another update.
