Pakistan after the conclusion of their ongoing campaign against New Zealand at home will fly off to Africa. They will play the home team South Africa in a full tour comprising of 3 Tests, as many ODIs and T20Is starting December 26. As the tour kicks off with the Test series they will play a practice game against the South African Invitation XI between December 19-21 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
For the Test series, the visiting team is expected to announce the squad in the first week of December however, they will be without a key batsman in Fakhar Zaman. The opener has in a very short span become an important member of the team and drives their charge with the bat right at the top. The Test series starts at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. It is not a voluntary move but one based on the recent turn of events.
During the ongoing series against New Zealand, Fakhar had some fitness troubles and is currently away from the action spending time in rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel is monitoring his progress and their assessment suggests that the 28-year-old hasn’t recovered fully yet and thus will need more time to return back on the field for international action.
The doctors on the panel have also recommended that he opts for an additional 3-4 weeks of rest just to give it enough recovery time.
