Pakistan batting sensation, Fakhar Zaman, finally disclosed about how he felt after he was called back after initially dismissed off a no-ball from Jasprit Bumrah. The left-hander described the feeling as a being provided with a fresh lease of life.

The young left-hander, from relative anonymity, grabbed all the limelight with his contributions, which entirely shifted the momentum for his side in the tournament. Zaman, came in place of a struggling Ajmal Shahzad and made sure Pakistan didn’t have to look anywhere else when it comes to the opening slot.

A lot was expected from Fakhar Zaman on the day of the finals who impressed one and all with his innings against South Africa, Sri Lanka, and England. His hopes would have been shattered after he nicked one to MS Dhoni off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah. But as they say, fortune favours the brave, Zaman was asked to wait to check if Bumrah over-stepped the line. As it turned out, it was an illegal delivery and Zaman went on to score a century.

“I had many plans in my mind for the final against India. I went out with the mindset that I will be doing my best in this match and will help Pakistan win the match,” he said. “A Pakistan-India game is a stage where if you do well, you’ll be a hero.” mentioned Fakhar Zaman according to Tribune.

Felt like a new lease of life for Fakhar

He further revealed that he had to take additional responsibility being the man in form. “I was playing my first match against India so I had to do more than the others, and my consistent performances before that game meant the team was relying on me.” added the PSL discovery.

“When I was caught behind, my heart sank. I was stunned and slowly started making my way back to the dressing room with all my hopes and dreams crushed. I kept thinking how could I lose my wicket here, I was supposed to score big, not get out on three.” continued the 27-year-old. “When the umpires stopped me, it was like a new hope. It felt like a new life. I thought to myself if this is a no ball then today is surely my day.” concluded Zaman.
