Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Chief, Nazmul Hassan, has opened up on Mushfiqur Rahim’s withdrawal from the tour of Pakistan and came out to tell that he wants Rahim to go and join the rest of the team in Pakistan for the remainder of the tour.

When the BCB had announced the team for the tour, Rahim had withdrawn his name and had said that he did not want to tour Pakistan. The reason he gave for his withdrawal was, that he was concerned about his family regarding the security arrangements there. He had made clear that he won’t be a part of the series and he had informed the BCB about this.

As reported by TOI, the Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief, speaking on this matter recently said, “I hope he will go [to Pakistan]. Every contracted player should go. Family is important for everybody, but the country is more important.”

Nazmul Hasan wants Mushfiqur Rahim to talk to Mahmudullah

Hassan, while expressing his wish for Rahim to join the Bangladesh team for the remainder of the tour, made clear that he or the board would not force him, but are wanting him to go and play for the national side. He also suggested Rahim to have a talk with his brother-in-law Mahmudullah Riyad, who was a part of the Test team, about his experience, before taking a call.

Reportedly, Mushfiqur Rahim himself has also been wanting to go and join the team. He has been in blazing hot form and his presence could turn the fortunes in Bangladesh’s favour. The team, lost all of the three completed matches so far on the tour, and things do not look good, owing to Rahim’s absence from the team, for the second Test and a one-off ODI too.

The single ODI match is scheduled to be held in Karachi on the 3rd of April and the second Test match of the tour, also in Karachi, from the 5th of April. Given the condition that the Bangladeshi team is in, they could surely use the talent, form and experience of a player like Mushfiqur Rahim, if he joins the team.
