David Warner has been a fulcrum of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Although he started his career with the Delhi Daredevils, now Capitals, it’s with SRH where he has garnered a lot of success. In fact, among the foreign players, he is the all-time leading run-scorer in the IPL. In 150 games, the southpaw has churned out 5449 runs with four centuries and 50 half-centuries.

Warner has also won the Orange Cap quite a few times and led the SRH to their maiden IPL title in 2016. However, he had a rough time in the 2021 edition of the tournament. In eight games, Warner managed only 195 runs at an average of 24.37 and a strike rate of 107.73. To rub salt into his wounds, the SRH management replaced him with Kane Williamson as the team’s captain.

In the UAE leg of IPL 2021, Warner couldn’t score in the first two games after which he was removed from the eleven, once and for all. Jason Roy opened the batting for the Sunrisers from there on along with Wriddhiman Saha and Abhishek Sharma.

In the meantime, a supporter wanted the Orange Army to retain Warner ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He also called Warner a “legend.

The fan took to Instagram and wrote, “Please retain Warner n next season. He is a legend, love you Warner bhai.”

Warner didn’t forget to reply to the fan. He reverted with four ‘laughing out loud’ emojis. The emoticons pretty much suggested that it would take more than a miracle for SRH to retain him going into the mega auction.

Earlier, the New South Wales-born Warner bid an emotional farewell to the Sunrisers. The veteran took to Instagram and posted a long message, showing his love for the franchise and its fans.

“Thank You for the memories created. To all the fans, you have been a driving force for our team always to give 100 percent. I can’t thank you all enough for the support shown. It’s been a great ride. My family and I are going to miss you all,” Warner wrote on Instagram.
