Zimbabwe Cricket is currently in the middle of one of its darkest phases. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended them with immediate effect owing to political interference from the country’s government. Shashank Manohar, the chairman of the ICC, didn’t mince any words in saying that ZC has violated the rules and regulations because of which the step had to be taken.

The suspension meant that Zimbabwe Cricket won’t be getting funds from the ICC. The national team has also been barred of participating in ICC events, such as the T20 World Cup qualifier for both Men and Women later this year in October. After the massive development in their cricket, the likes of Sikandar Raza and Solomon Mire have expressed their grief and hung their boots from international cricket.

Fakhar scoring big against Zimbabwe

In the meantime, fans are trolling Fakhar Zaman and the Pakistan team. Back in 2018, the Men in Green could only get over the line in the ODI series versus Zimbabwe. Sarfaraz Ahmed & Co managed to whitewash their opponent 5-0. Their batters, especially the openers- Fakhar and Imam-ul-Haq piled on runs at an alarming rate, laying onto the Zimbabwean bowlers.

In fact, Fakhar went on to become the first Pakistan batsman to hit a double-century in ODI cricket. The southpaw was simply unstoppable in the series and became the fastest batter to get 1,000 ODI runs after making his debut during the 2017 Champions Trophy. In the five-match series, Fakhar went on to rack up 515 runs with a top score of 210* at an awe-inspiring average of 257.50.

Overall, he smacked two tons and as many half-centuries in the series. He scored those runs at a strike-rate of 111.47, hitting 65 boundaries and six sixes. Even Imam, his opening partner, piled 395 runs at an average of 79. Imam finished with three centuries. Fans are ridiculing Fakhar for the reason that apart from that series, he hasn’t performed on a consistent basis at the highest level.

Barring Zimbabwe, Fakhar has scored 1313 runs in 39 matches at an average of 34.55, which is much lower than his career average of 45.70. He didn’t have the greatest of outings in the World Cup as well.

Here is how the fans mocked Fakhar and Pakistan:
